Our Team’s History
Ben A. Schuck III founded our firm in 2004. Prior to that time, Ben was a partner in the firm of Lagerlof, Senecal, Drescher and Swift and its predecessors from 1975 to 1993, in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Paula, and then with the firm of Onstot and Schuck and its predecessors from 1993 to 2004, in Santa Paula. Katherine (Hause) Becker (“Katie”) joined Ben’s solo practice as a paralegal in 2007 while attending law school. She graduated from law school in 2010 and passed the bar exam in 2011. Ben Schuck & Katherine Becker, LLP was founded in January of 2012. Rennee R. Dehesa joined the firm as a partner in January of 2016. Ben, who has known Rennee’s family since she was 12, encouraged her to go to law school, and Katie has known Rennee for 6 years as a friend and fellow member of their local Barristers professional group. Ben, Katie and Rennee have a combined 55 years of experience in our practice areas and are assisted by our wonderful office staff, Sacheen Swan, our paralegal, Araceli Rodriguez and Stephanie Gomez, our legal assistants, both of who speak fluent Spanish. At Schuck, Becker & Dehesa, our team is dedicated to helping our clients through difficult planning decisions and life events.
Ben received his bachelor’s degree from Loyola University, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Southern California. Ben began practicing law in 1969. He became a partner in the firm of Lagerlof, Senecal, Drescher and Swift and its predecessors from 1975 to 1993, in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Paula, and then with the firm of Onstot and Schuck and its predecessors from 1993 to 2004, in Santa Paula. He opened the Law Office of Ben A. Schuck in 2004, which became Ben Schuck & Katherine Becker, LLP in 2012. Ben now spends the majority of his professional time as the attorney handling estate planning, trusts, wills and business matters.
Katherine began her career in estate planning, probate and business law in 2007 when she joined the Law Office of Ben A. Schuck III as a paralegal. While Katherine had worked with various other law firms and organizations before, she instantly knew that this was the type of work she wanted to do. Katherine attended the Ventura College of Law while working as a paralegal, and graduated in December 2010. Katherine passed the California Bar Exam in February 2011 and started as an associate with Ben Schuck after being sworn in as a licensed attorney in June 2011. Katherine was promoted to partner with Ben Schuck & Katherine Hause, LLP in January 2012. The firm changed its name to Ben Schuck & Katherine Becker, LLP after Katherine’s marriage in 2013. Katherine joined Schneiders & Associates, LLP, in Oxnard, California as Of Counsel in August 2013.
Rennee R. Dehesa
Rennee R. Dehesa practices in the areas of estate planning, probate, bankruptcy and business. She is devoted to her clients establishing long-term relationships with many of them and serving as their attorney and the attorney for their family and friends. For years she has focused on providing her clients with personalized, friendly and in depth legal services when they need a trust, will, business agreement or representation in a probate or trust administration matter. When times are tough Ms. Dehesa has helped clients navigate the bankruptcy process representing both debtors and creditors in complex bankruptcy proceedings. Her business clients come to her for advice on formation, sale and stock agreements, and complex business transactions. She is fluent in Spanish.
Sacheen is originally from Minnesota where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Her professional performing career moved her from Minnesota to Nashville, Tennessee and eventually to the Los Angeles area. After retiring from performing, Sacheen worked for five years at a real estate investment company in West Los Angeles with investments in commercial real estate across four states.
Schuck Becker & Dehesa, LLP
Araceli is the firm’s legal assistant and has years of experience in the areas of estate planning, trust administration, probate, real property, water law and natural resource law. Araceli is also the firm’s Office Manager and handles general administration of the office as well as bookkeeping and payroll.
